Buttercup: Here comes my Westley now.
Humperdinck: Your Westley is dead. I killed him myself.
Buttercup: Then why is there fear behind your eyes?
Westley: It’s conceivable… that I am only lying here because I lack the strength to stand.
Then again, perhaps I have the strength after all.(standing) Drop your sword.

I was listening to a message, and became inspired (somewhat tangentially, but why not?) to think of an example embodies that that moment of despair, when it appears that everything has been snatched away, including and especially hope. And how I — we, as believers — should respond. This is what came to mind, and the more I meditated on it, the more perfectly it captured the hope and defiance I was painting here.
And about the time I was putting this together, a close friend received another Jairus message: “Don’t bother the Master anymore; your daughter is dead.” Your brothers have sold you into slavery. Pharaoh has you trapped at the Red Sea. You’ve been kicked out of the garden, and the gate is guarded. The dragon is seeking to devour you. It’s hopeless.
Not all stories are True; just the good ones.
