God's creation blows me away. The beauty of it all just overwhelms me with gratitude. From the smallest field mouse to largest of whales and everything in between. I love His creation. People, animals, nature. All life. Protecting and nurturing the vulnerable is my hot button, especially animals. I am an advocate against the senseless destruction of God's creation; ie, hunting, etc.
Photographing nature and trying to capture that on film and creating dvds of music and my photography and videos is something I really enjoy. I like communicating with emotions and feelings of viewing and experiencing beauty. Peace among all things and a sense of relationship and belonging is key to me as well. I have some horses and dogs and work in Human Resources. My two wonderful kids are raised and out on their own. My husband aka known as "the love of my life" and I live in Northern Ohio.

Echoing from the mountains of Colorado

Posted on April 1, 2009 at 8:00pm 3 Comments

I recall the searching and the passion in his voice and in his eyes as he proclaimed he was going to Colorado, those years ago in January. The passion was strong in him about this and it was as if he was seeing something for the first time and it "fired him up" about it.

We had our struggles, maybe harsher than some, maybe much less harsher than some. I was somewhat indifferent to the whole event but as I saw his fire, I began to wonder what this was all about.

Tough Cookie

Being the tough cookie.

Looking at the alternative to that and thinking that being the tough cookie is truly the only option currently.

No luxury to be weak. No luxury to cry. It's about strength. Keeping it going. Trying not to let the message of a "heart of freedom" become riddled and destroyed by the shrapnel of the life stuff that can go from Zero to Messy in a matter of moments.

Keeping the iron resolve that not having a shoulder to lean on is ok. Not every… Continue

Learining to Dance In the Rain

I love the song I have on my page by Coldplay... It's called "Fix You." Very powerful song.

I remember the first time I heard it, I thought how much it fit what was going on in my life while dad was in the final stages of lung cancer. Five months later, I lost mom too, which was not expected at all. (Oct. 2007 dad passed and mom passed in March 2008)

We all lose our parents and that is part of the cycle of life. Mom and dad were way too young to die but that is the way it… Continue

Finding treasure where we least expect it: Notes from an enlightened shutterbug

Posted on January 3, 2009 at 11:33am 0 Comments

One of my favorite hobbies is taking pictures. I love nature and love to capture it in a picture. I'm no profressional, just a hobbyist but can I ever get lost for hours taking pictures of things. Well, you might know how photography goes, it's about getting our photographic eye in the right place at the right time and having camera in hand to grab the shot.

I can think of a few times this has happened to me too. The first week after I bought a Digital SLR, I of course had it on my… Continue

Thanks for the encouragement. You are right, the more I walk in this place that God has called to me, the more the enemy tells me how much I am wasting my time.

Thank you for your reply, TK. I share your 'feel' for history, my bones talk to me at those places as well. I'm not into flying bullets or how that ridge was taken from the opponent. I long to see where God was in the lives of people and events; be it soldier or other family members. Books on the journals of the people then bring me to life. I'm with David McClough, "history speaks to me!"

There's a Civil War site near my home place. All that's there is an official marker telling about the sites significance along a back road. Nothing else. I love to go there just to set in the presence of these ones who were there making history.

Closer our home, in fact within walking distance of my home farm, is a trail known as Forbes Trail, I love going there to listen to the wheels of those wagons creak as they pass through...thinking, "what were their thots coming through here for the first time, being the first English settlers." Someday I want to walk the ground at the Cumberland Gap Park where the settlers came through.

Ah yea, my heart beats faster when I step on to historic ground...but then, isn't historic ground where we're standing now? Woo, that thot just occured to me. Ok. Next time I go out visiting these places I'm taking a notebook and camera. Thanks for listening to my rambling, TK. I like these conversations.

Great photos, too. I'll enjoy looking closer when my left eye isn't bothering me and I can have both contacts in.

The tartan is just random I'm afraid. Haven't the money yet to invest in my own clan. It is from a local Ren Faire we helped organize. I am into Celtic Christianity, and am working on ideas for a positive Christian presence at ren faires. Christianity often gets a bum rap at ren faires - witch hunts, inquisition, penance, etc. Not part of Celtic Christianity, but Catholic. Anyway, thanks for the comments.
