My heart had been taken out for years. I felt like the saviors love and atonement was for everyone else. I had to earn his love and acceptance. I could never be good enough. My sins kept me away from God and I thought his love. I couldn't earn his love or mercy. I went to the Utah Warrior Heart boot-camp earlier this year. I found wounds I didn't know I had. I found agreements which I had. These kept me from feeling acceptance and love. I was able to break these and feel his love and mercy…

Hope you are blessed with the "presence" of Christmas -
Tayne,
I would never call the Nicaean Creed the Word of God as that honor is reserved for the 66 books of the Biblical Cannon. However, the creeds are reliable distillations of what the historic Christian Church has understood the Bible to be expressing on important issues of faith. And the first three creeds (Nicene, Chalcedonian, and Athanasian) all enjoy centuries (almost millennia) of traditional acceptance throughout our Savior’s Church. I also agree with your emphasis upon the heart. However, I don’t believe the condition of our heart can ever be separated from our doctrine. Jesus, Paul, James, John all spoke/wrote regarding the importance of sound doctrine (Titus 1:9, 2:1, 1Timothy 4:16, 2Timothy 4:3, 2Peter 2:1, Matt 24:24, to list a few).
In summary, brother, I don’t doubt your testimony of faith or the sincerity of your love for Jesus. However, I wouldn’t encourage you to stay in a church that so dramatically departs from historic and Biblical Christianity. The doctrines there could lead your heart astray. But, my problem isn’t only with Mormonism; Unfortunately I believe that most of American Evangelicalism has its own big problem. It has degenerated into legalism. Oh, wait, Evangelicals don’t live by ‘laws’, they live by ‘principles’ and that’s very different because… um... hm… uh… it’s spelled differently?
Anyway, enough of my sarcasm. Blessings to you and have a great day.Tayne,
I’ve only made it through a few of pages of the discussion so far. Very interesting. But I’m not sure I will leave any comments there since the discussion is already too involved for me to jump in at this point. But since you asked, I’ll briefly give my beliefs on the matter. For me, it all boils down to the nature of God. The Mormon Church rejects Trinitarian doctrine and, among other things, holds to the heresy of Arius which was condemned at the first council of Nicaea in 325. So, while I know that there are sincere Christians that go to Mormon churches, I don’t believe that the Mormon Church is a Christian church as historically definedHi Tayne - Thank you for the welcome. I'm reading with interest your discussion "Are Mormons Christians" As I work my way through there, I will be sure to comment.
Welcome Tayne! Glad you could join our community.
I'm a returning member, but wanted to meet and greet you and make you feel at home :)
Be blessed,
