I thought I would start a group for all those who like to travel. Where have you been? Where do you want to go? Where would you recommend? Hotels? What to see? Where not to eat? Everything about it.

Courtesy of the US Navy, I travelled extensively in my twenties and early thirties to Europe, Africa, The Middle East, South America and Australia. Traveling is awesome! In the past few years, I've rediscovered the beauty of our own country. I reali…

I was born in South Africa, raised in Zimbabwe, moved to London when I was 18 to join the British Army. I absolutely loved the Army but was injured in training, still carrying the injury, and was medically discharged. I met a stunning Canadian at my Church in London and we were married after 18 months together. I am now at University and when I am done we will be moving to Canada.

Rich, I have been visiting the pages of my "friends". So glad I stopped here for awhile. Your pictures made me want to book a trip somewhere right now! Your blogs are so transparent and I felt like we were friends when I finished! God bless you and your sweet bride.

ah man i wish...i suffer from a continued and seemlessly everlasting lack of money lol. i am going to start saving in the new year for a trip to the antarctic in 2010 its a sailing trip on a tall ship called bark europa. its gonna cost me about £5000-£6000 though so it will litrally take a miricle to achieve it. but i think its where God wants me so the money will get there somehow.

Rich, saw you on Jay Strategic Fathering group. With his blessing, I started a new, somewhat parallel group but with a specific focus. This is an invitation to drop in to Generational Fathering, make a comment, tell your story, or just lurk and take something away. I noticed comments that related to your Dad. Does that fit here. I don't see children pictures, but you and your bride are the fruit of your parents and are the hope of those you'll have. Some stories there?

I'm familiar with SA and Zimbabwe; had a telcom business with tourist facilities for a few years. Both countries we absolutely beautiful ten years ago.

Hi Rich,

I've been praying for the people in Zimbabwe for some time now. I'll pray for your Dad specifically.

Thanks Rich, I really appreciate it! I'd love to have Dads from around the world bring their sons down under. For that matter, you could always bring your Dad.

G'day Rich,

My name is Darren Lewis from Australia. Do you know of anyone in U.K. who would like to come to Australia for a father-son adventure? Go to www.fatheringadventures.com.au, and have a look around.

Hey Rich,

My Wife and I are looking into Zimbabwe as a Mission opportunity. Our church has a tripped planned for there in March of 2009. Shoot me some info as you see the opportunities about what is going on there and or Web SItes I can go to to study more about the country and the culture.

BY the way our Garage got broke into Wednesday night while we were asleep in the house and my wallet got stolen from my car. So I am now in the process of going through all the bank card stoppage and restoring all my accounts and things as well.

God Bless

Small Frustrations

I'm currently living in London, a city of over 7 million people. Day to day in London, as I'm sure in most if not all big cities, people are in such a hurry and don't really think twice about barging through you. Starting off the day on public transport through massive grumpy crowd isn't always the best start. I find myself getting cold to what happens around me, frustrated about the smallest things.
I'm currently at University in London. Degrees here are specialised from the 1st year, and there… Continue

Shattered Dreams Rebuilt Part 3

December 2005 I decided to make some big steps! Even though I was still in pain from my injury I decided that the pain had hit a plateau and wasn't getting worse, and wasn't getting better. I decided to drop my cripple sticks. I left my crutches. I was only off crutches for a month when another big change came into my life. I met a lovely young lady. After several months of dating I decided to try and change career paths and I started to make moves to get into IT, software engineering. August 20… Continue

Shattered Drems Part 2

I left the Army Barracks in April 2005. I decided to move back into London. It was going to be difficult as public transport, buses, trains, and tubes, were the only ways of getting around. I started going back to my Church which was one of the great things about moving back to London. However, I went from Richard, you know, the guy from the Army, to Richard, the guy on crutches. I didn't think I could be to useful to anyone and I had no idea how long I would be on crutches for. I tried taking a… Continue

Shattered Dreams Part 1

I was born in South Africa and brought up in Zimbabwe. When I was 16 years old it was my dream to go to England and join the British Army. I always loved my sports and fitness and thought that this would be an ideal career. 1 month after my 18th birthday I flew to England to chase my dream. I was told I should apply for Sandhurst, which is the officer training academy in the UK, similar to West Point in the States. I applied and was told I could start training after another 18 months of 'gaining… Continue

I'm sorry Nicholas - I got in a hurry and used the wrong name....I apologize. I'm convinced that we all need good mentors....in life...and to help us decipher our callings. How is the men's breakfast going? Any opportunity for a sage/mentor there?…
