Epic Fun

Have recently begun an evening service at my second charge in Jonesville, KY. I began to tell them about a story I know, John's Epic Story. The first two weeks went very well. The Prologue and then Act I: Eternal Love were well received. Tonight, Act II: The Entrance of Evil! I had a lot of blank stares. I perhaps got a little worked up. It may have been a little more intense than they are used to... I felt compelled to remind them that our story has a redemptive quality known to us as salvation… Continue

Reflecting Glass

Have been reflecting on the past year and a half... February 2007 I attended Boot Camp. Here's what I felt laid upon my heart that weekend.

- "Get your house in order."
I felt God wanted my family to prepare for something major. A move? Perhaps.
- "Pack light."
I sensed Him calling for us to eliminate unnecessary material possessions while paying off debts.
- "Something drastic will change in our lives within the next 6 to 12 months."
Hmm a move? Career change?
- "I will not fully reveal my pla… Continue

The Journey

I have just completed week #1 of my second semester at Asbury Theological Seminary. It promises many challenges as well as blessings. My wife just started a new teaching position teaching 1/2 kindergarten at Jessamine Early Learning Village about a mile from the house. This allows me to focus on my studies and my recent appointment as a student pastor in two congregations about an hour and a half from Wilmore, KY. I also enjoy the action filled student worker position at the seminary protecting… Continue

We live in Paducah. How odd is that. We moved from Northeast Arkansas a year and a half ago so I'm not familiar with your location. I assume it is in Eastern Kentucky. I appreciated your comments.

Technically, I am a Texan. Born there. Have lived in T-Town for the past 14 years. Asbury huh? When were at WKU we had a college Conference there in Wilmore at the campgrounds. Additionally, we had a week long staff conference there with Robert Traina when he still taught there. Think that was in 83ish...

I know where Dry Ridge is too. My mom lives in Florence, so I pass through on my way up. I have an old college roommate that preaches in Corinth.

Hey Mark....thanks for the comments. I notice you are at Asbury. Do you live in Wilmore? When I was a teen I made the trek to Wilmore every spring for Ichthus. Of course, it's held in the summer now. It's been a long time since I've been, but I'm hoping my daughter will be getting old enough to want to go soon.

There have been a couple of invite requests, which of course were granted but nothing more. BTW, I am a recovering UMC pastor (as in ex-umc pastor). I pray for a canopy of prayer over you and all of your domain. The battle is fierce.

I'm sorry Nicholas - I got in a hurry and used the wrong name....I apologize. I'm convinced that we all need good mentors....in life...and to help us decipher our callings. How is the men's breakfast going? Any opportunity for a sage/mentor there?…
