Pursuing your calling from God day to day is where ever your heart is content in him...for me its cleaning my home or taking the time out for my kids and even taking them to there appts. or making the time for my neighbor as much as a simple hello!

just recently i discovered that i had been ministering to a few young ladies over the course of a couple days - how exhausting!  then i realized that i just needed to fellowship and reload REALLY BAD lol. So i came back here :)

Mari - Thanks for sharing the video....and for sharing your heart. My wife and I also work with immigrants and we love it. What are some of the things you'll do w/ your immigrant friend? We find that they are almost always open, friendly, and very curious about American culture - basically, there's an open door to love these folks because of their openness :)

Bryan ... You must have a passion for working with troubled teens.  What a need there is there!  This passion is very possibly what God has put inside of you to see it to fruition.  You also mentioned a vision for it.  Faith, Vision & Passion -- a wonderful foundation for going forward.

Concerning leadership, this can be developed.  My favorite book on this is: John Maxwell's Developing the Leader Within You.  Consider getting a copy.  I think you will (and probably have been) be able to put many things to use right away in your position in the army.  

Secondly, there is a great resource of messages on the topic at the Discipleship Library by the Navigators.  Free downloadable messages on many, many topics.  Do a search for "leadership."  There you will find author/speakers like J. Oswald Sanders of China Inland Missions, Paul Stanley -- 1960 West Point Graduate and missionary to Eastern Europe & Russia during communism, Leroy Eims--a Marine--who wrote a very instructive book called The Lost Art of Disciple Making, and many, many more.  

Finally, pray for a mentor.  There has to be someone out there who would love to take someone like you and help him along in the area of leadership.  They've been down many roads before and some great lessons to share.  Then, keep on the lookout for that man.

Pondering.. spent alot of time considering my calling. I feel very strongly that i am meant to help people.. teens.. I have a reoccurring thought of a teen center. A place for teens from rough family lives and neighborhoods to come and find some peace.. have thought so far throu it as to name it and talk to school officials in the area.. but i lack the confidence to be a leader at this point in my life as well i am military so it would have to wait for the contract to end..  One day... I think...

Hi David -

Thanks for your honesty....we've all had struggles in identifying our callings. I'd suggest starting w/ some of the discussions here (what others have told you that you are good at, recurring themes, etc). We've also got a group that's quite a bit more active in the 48 Days community (http://www.48days.net/group/pursuingyourcalling) where the discussions are a bit more focused on how our callings tie into careers.
