Comment by Becky on March 12, 2012 at 1:28pm John, I think the comments ebb and flow. This last round is the first I've seen in awhile.
Comment by Holger Schirrmeister on March 12, 2012 at 3:50am Johan, have you been to Germany?
The castle hill is not far from my place here.
Close to Stuttgart, the beginning of the Swabian Mountains.
Gunnar, I think I need to visit you! ;-)
Prost!!! (Smile)

Thank you, Gunnar, thank you, Holger. I needed a drink; you provided it. Beautiful, revitalizing.

~ Thetis Lake Park, January 2009 ~
For about a year I had lived in the downtown core. When people remarked, "So you live in the heart of the city...", I would tell them, "Well, near to the heart; more like the armpit of the city...". Then a friend invited me to rent a room in his house, which happened to be at the end of a dead-end street bordering a rural park.
At the first opportunity, I took the 30 second walk from the front door into the park. Within a couple of minutes I was totally out of sight of civilisation, where I wept for the joy of being immersed in God's creation.
I took this photo a couple of weeks later, on a warm, almost spring-like day in mid-January 2009. As I stood there, soaking in the beauty, I was thinking, "This is like standing in God's cathedral." I wrote the poem a short time later.
I can only speak for myself, but I'm alive, Johan! My love of beauty has not waned one bit, but circumstances have drawn me away from time on the internet, and I am walking closely with friends who are experiencing a lot of pain. God is teaching me about living simpler and deeper, and part of that is freedom to not deal with too much at one time. For now, I am drawing strength from beauty rather than offering it. I am sure this is only for a season, but I am confident of my assignments from my Father.
