Light Brigade (Motorcycles and Guns)

We live in the beautiful Northwest. We have a passion for riding. We love riding with our friends and neighbors, saved or unsaved. As far as the gun thing goes, we just got our concealed weapons permit so thought we throw that in.

Howdy from East Tennessee, home of US 129 aka the Dragon, and more interesting riding roads than you can shake a stick at. Been a military collector for @20 years and have owned most every military surplus piece that has been on the market or know somebody that has.

I'm down in Texas, but I to worship, ride, and carry a gun. I also hahe a concealed handgun license. I pastor a small church down here. It was 38 thi morning, but warmed into the fifties today and was beautiful riding weather. We get to ride pretty much year round, although it does get down in the teens occassionally. But I've always believed God made cows so bikers could have leathers. Long as it's not raining it's not bad. God bless ya'll in the northwest.

Hello all,
Susie and I have made it through all the hoopla of the holidays and the overload of inauguration media blitz. It was in the 70's here yesterday so I cranked the bike and buzzed around for a bit. I spent the afternoon cleaning the bugs of 2008 off the bike, getting ready for the bugs of 2009. We have had some cool days...temps down in the teens but, thankfully, they only last for a day or two.Randy, you and Karen are my heroes. Riding in 38 degrees, I wouldn't have lasted for 12 miles. We did a trip to Naples, Florida a few years back and it was in the low 40's for about 300 miles. Never again. Susie gave me a Mauser 8mm bolt action rifle for Christmas. She's a keeper. It is super accurate and has a nice, crisp action for a WWII rifle. That brings my WWII collection up to three, a Springfield M-1 Garrand (1943), a Japanese type-99 Arisaka 8mm last ditch (doesn't fire) and the Mauser. She's said she would go with me to get an Enfield for my birthday in March. Like I said, she's a keeper. I am so blessed in my life. In these trying times let's remember that this walk that we are on will have it's difficult times. (Such as now.) But we do have a companion on this walk and he is leading us toward the goal. No matter what befalls us along the way, loss of jobs, loved ones, monetary loss, personal setbacks, or outright attacks against us, the destination is worth it. And when we reach that destination, our real lives will begin. Yes Lord, I will ride with you. God Bless-Ken

Randy,
Thanks for the response. I have been researching the laws regarding Firearm ownership in my state and it is pretty straight foward. I need to join my local gun club and they can steer me in the right direction. Im hoping nothing happens within our government in that time that will prevent me from owning my own firearm. Ive joined the NRA,on there web site. I am excited to teach my sons about the out doors. There is an archery range close by and Im trying to find the time to bring my boys there. I seem to have a few irons in the fire right now and finding time for another activity is going to be challenging to say the least. I am grateful for the reply. I hope more men on this site will join this discussion, there is alot I can learn from my brothers in Christ.....God Bless....Matt

Matt, Welcome to the group, glad you joined us. I'm sure every Christian man has asked the questions you're asking regarding defending himself or his family. I was just discussing it with Karen, my wife, and while every circumstance would be unique I believe certain actions are always okay. We can always defend our wife, children or any other helpless person from an aggressor, this is our God given place as men. I believe turning the other cheek mostly refers to when someone is persecuting us individually for being a Christian. Maybe they slap you if you warn them about the possibility of going to Hell. In that case you would not slap them back.

I just went through an experience this weekend where someone stole all my gear from my motorcycle sidebags while it was parked where I work. About $700 worth of stuff. So I've been through the whole range of emotions about what I would have done if I would have caught this individual in the act, or if I find out who it is. I definitely would have attempted to stop the person.

I'll let someone else comment about getting a gun in NYC, It doesn't seem like it would be any different than anywhere else. Karen just got her concealed weapons permit a few weeks ago by going to the Sheriff's department. Maybe check the internet for your area, we are in Washington state.

Well hey, I have to go to bed as I've been up since 4am and need to get up at 4am tomorrow. I hope this is a start for more of you to join this discussion.

Blessings,Randy

Hi All,
Im new to this post and I am looking for some help with this whole gun thing. I am concerned about the end of times as such, and was wonderinmg if the lord would want me to defend myself if it meant taking another life, or would he rather I let it happen.I have always wondered about this. I am a truely blessed man and I am forever grateful for my life. I dont think I could turn the other cheak if it came to my wife and my boys lives.
So, back to the original thought, I live in the big apple and trying to arm myself is almost impossible. Where would I even start. I know it sound strange, a grown man not knowing about firearms and such but I would like to learn and teach my boys. I had some rudementery traing in the service, but that was ages ago. Any comments are truely appreciated...God Bless..Matt

HI! We braved the 30+ degree weather and joined the 200 other bikers for the Polar Bear Ride/Rally this weekend to raise money for a good cause. It was cold, but we had a blast. We were able to mingle with many bikers from several other "clubs" and we hoped and prayed as we went from bar to bar for the ride stops... that they could see that being a Christian doesn't mean you can't have fun (without drinking.) We were treated with respect as well as we treated them with equal respect. Praying that someday... the Lord may use our presence to open the door for salvation for some of these hard core bikers. We ride with the Road Riders for Jesus biker ministry and we know God can do wonderful things... just by being there and available for Him to use. God Bless you guys, ride safe. Lori
