Hey everyone ! Welcome Shellie, I haven't been by for quite sometime, not eating well at all. Glad you came by Shellie, I got the notification that you left a note and it brought me back here ! It is AWESOME that you have taken control of your health and changed your lifestyle !! WAY TO GO !! I am in the very beginning stages of doing this. I am excited, but frustrated and feeling overwhelmed cause I have NEVER eaten this way before.. So there are MANY changes in how do everything to do with food. Not totally. But having the right foods around and learning how to prepare them !! AHHHHHH !!! LOL !!
I am reading the book "eat-to-live" by Dr.Joel.Furhman. it is pretty much a vegan diet. It is meant for weight loss, which I certainly do not need. I desire the supreme health that this way of living results in. I have some friends online that have actually started a group "eat to live" on facebook. Where we are going through the book together and sharing recipes and support etc. Which I find is helping me immensley. There have some before and after photos so you know it works. This helps me alot. To hear the testimonies of people truly getting healthier and feeling better ! I desire this for my LIFE !!!
So, with God's help ... I will continue ... HUGS !! and thanks SO much for sharing. Would LOVE to hear and tips and tricks or even recipies if you want to share .. it is quite the transition for me and my husband ....

Hello. Just joined this group. I jut wanted to say hi, and tell you a little bit about me. I grew up in a "fast food" home. Both parents worked, so meals were what every was fast and easy. Needless to say it took it's toll on the entire family. Fast forward 40 years ahead, and I still had the same bad eating habits, and undergone a failed gastric bypass for weight reduction, and really didnt know what to do. (I lost 80 pounds after the bypass, then gained 70 of it back). 2 years ago I changed the way I ate forever. I rarely have any type of fast food anymore, and although I didn't cook before, I do now, and find it a challenge and fun to alter recipes of old favorites into newer healthy versions. I am not a chef by any means, lol but I have come up with some pretty tasty stuff. I am now 120 pounds lighter, and more importantly I am teaching my son how to eat right. He was getting a big chunky there, had to buy him husky pants, but now he has slimmed down to a normal weight, and although he still prefers the junk, I just don't keep it around so his choices are limited. Hope to learn and offer any words of wisdom in this group. thanks!

Hey Dawn,
I have been considering a VitaMix Blender myself.
I was waiting on a friend to let me know if it is the one that she uses.
She told me that it is better than a juicer because you are getting the whole vegetable and that because the blender blends it SO small that your body can actually absorb more of the nutrients. Is this true??

I've been reading some of the posts and comments and it didn't take long for me
to feel what I usually do when trying to plan healthier lifestyle and eating choices.
That is OVERWHELMED because there is so much info to wade through that I just
feel I don't know where to start. Everything (like HA for example, which originated about 30 miles from where I live) seems really drastic and rigid and
legalistic in the spiritual sense. I think I mostly practice the 80/20 plan and
am able to maintain a healthy weight but still taking RX drugs and have gastro
problems ( like polyps, every time I have that checked) and want to do more but have a really hard time discerning what is the truth. Anybody relate and have found answers that helped for my dilemma??????
