The Right Person 1 Reply

I wanted to get a discussion going regarding the topic of marriage and this idea of "the one" person that we're supposed to marry, particularly since this thought is so near and dear to so many of our hearts. Do you think there is one person? Is…Continue

only one more month to go in this crazy year! 2 Replies

I'm curious to know what 2011 has looked like, to those of you, any of you, who want to venture forward on this.  I'll start by saying 2011 has seemed like two utterly different, not-even-remotely-related years to me.  The early part was nonstop,…Continue

I am Bethlehem

And so we have celebrated Christmas, the coming of Jesus to this world. And O what a thing to celebrate! The manger, the angels, the shepherds…the focus of the entire pageant comes down to this: Jesus became a man. “Since...

Rolling in Dead Things

I love walking our golden retriever, Oban in the hills behind our home. Oban is almost 4 years old now but still such a puppy. Yesterday, he decided that he did not want to go for a walk after all but wanted to play tug ‘o war instead! In goes the leash into his mouth…back legs braced, front legs extended, head pulling and shaking enticing me to P L A Y! Ok, I know he was being bad, but he was so cute! We tugged. Back and forth and then running. He was so happy! I passed other dog walkers...

Implications: "You Are Mine!"

January 30, 2005:

"Damiano, having had enough of a life that has suddenly turned to pain and more pain, tells the archangel Raphael to take a hike and starts an invocation to Satan. I close the novel, discouraged myself, but not discouraged enough to read beyond that point. A few minutes later the thought hits me that any time a person quits, even if they don't actively seek the devil, they're still playing his music. Quit. It's the language we've learned. The…

God Likes Giving Us Surprises

God has provided and will continue to provide for us so I'm not worried or feel like I'm "out" anything when I endure the inequities of life like I used to not so long ago. I'm really trying to just let God surprise me with His love every day - letting Him choose how He would express it instead of me making demands on how I want it to look, i.e., praying for health, wealth, love, respect, reputation, protections, friendship, possessions... I still pray that God shows me His love and continue…

Worry, Fear and Faith

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew…

A Trek to "The Shack"

Shortly after the book "The Shack" came out, people started talking about it. I tried to get it from the library but the wait list was long; I figured I'd get to it eventually. Then I forgot about it until Gaston mentioned it to me a week or so ago. I checked the library again and found it available.

The first person to mention it to me was Lu, of Mosaic fame. She said "I think you'd like this. He speaks your language." Now, all these years later, I've learned…

The Right Person

I wanted to get a discussion going regarding the topic of marriage and this idea of "the one" person that we're supposed to marry, particularly since this thought is so near and dear to so many of our hearts. Do you think there is one person? Is there any scriptural backing for this idea? Before I read this article, I believed whole-heartedly that there is one person who God wanted me to be with for the rest of my life. But this article, as well as having God deal with the deep longing for…See More

"gay" and "Marriage" - they are oxymoronic - contradictory terms used in conjunction.
